Joint operation results in herbal cannabis seizure valued at €10,120,000
On 30/01/26, as a result of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime activity under Operation TARA, a joint operation was conducted by Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB). This operation involved the search of a premises in the Co. Louth area and resulted in the seizure of 506 kg of cannabis, with an estimated value of €10,120,000.
Three males, two in their 30s and one in his 50s, were arrested pursuant to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 in relation to facilitating and enhancing drug trafficking activities for an organised crime group. They are currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, at Garda stations in Counties Louth and Dublin. Investigations are ongoing.
