Revenue seize nine million cigarettes at Dublin Port
On 03/03/2026, Revenue officers seized approximately nine million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
The seizure was made following routine risk profiling, with the assistance of detector dog Milo and the use of Revenue’s mobile X-ray scanner. The contraband was discovered in a consignment declared as food, following a search of a container that had arrived on a vessel from Rotterdam.
The smuggled cigarettes, branded ‘Richmond’, have an estimated value of over €8.5 million representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €6.6 million.
Investigations are ongoing.
