Revenue seize contraband worth over €654,000 in various operations
Over the week commencing 23/03/2026, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €654,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 26 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €523,000.
- 282 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €90,300.
- 672 g of butane honey oil, with an estimated value of over €13,400.
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €8,200 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €6,200.
- 1.1 kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €6,800.
- Over 309 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of over €4,200 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €2,300.
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €7,700.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara, Molly and Jasper. The parcels originated from the US, the UK, Canada, Thailand, the Netherlands and France, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
Included in the seized herbal cannabis was 21.5 kg at Dublin Airport on 27/03/2026. The illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €430,000, were discovered concealed in vacuum packed packages within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Malaga. One male, aged in his 30s, was arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with the investigation.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Forty-nine weapons accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
