Joint operation results in drug seizure valued at over €1.6 million
On 26/08/2026, as part of a joint cross border intelligence-led operation involving Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the PSNI’s Organised Crime Unit, approximately 119 kg of cannabis was seized in the Dundalk area of Co. Louth following an interdiction of a vehicle. The illicit drugs have an estimated value of €1,666,000.
A male, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and is currently being detained in a Garda Station in Co. Louth.
Follow up searches were conducted in the Newtownabbey area of Northern Ireland and approximately 45 kg of cannabis, 0.5 kg cocaine (subject to analysis), 22 imitation firearms and approximately £25,000 in cash was seized by the PSNI’s Organised Crime Unit. A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested and is being detained by the PSNI.
Investigations are ongoing.
