Irish Investment Account Technical Group Forum – information for applicants
The Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris, has announced that the Government will develop a new Irish Investment Account and it will be legislated for in the Finance (No. 2) Bill 2026.
Subject to the legislation being enacted, the account will open on 1 July 2027.
It is acknowledged that the introduction of an Irish Investment Account will require infrastructure development by those operating the accounts.
Industry participants have indicated that early clarity on the broad Irish Investment Account design is essential to support the timely development of the necessary operational systems. To assist with the development of operational systems, a Technical Forum will be established between Revenue, representatives of the Irish Investment Account Providers and their in‑house teams, as well as any third‑party software companies engaged by Providers to build the necessary Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure.
The Forum will focus on the technical aspects of the required engagement between Providers and Revenue as will be set out in legislation, including account opening, eligibility validation, account lifecycle processes, and pay‑and‑file obligations. The Forum will not be a policy forum and will not consider or advise on policy matters.
Revenue now invites Providers who intend to offer the product in the Irish market and their software partners to apply by email to Investmentaccounttechnicalgroup@revenue.ie to participate in the Forum.
Applicants will be required to provide the following information:
- The capacity in which they are applying – namely:
- a Provider who intends to offer the product in the Irish market
- or
- a Software partner of an intended provider.
- A designated contact name and role within the applicant organisation.
Applications may be submitted to Revenue up to 16 October 2026, with an anticipated first meeting of the Forum shortly thereafter via Microsoft Teams.
