Local Property Tax (LPT) revaluation November 2021

On 1 June 2021, the Cabinet agreed to bring forward legislation that will propose changes to how Local Property Tax (LPT) currently operates.

Details of the proposals are contained in the Heads of the Finance (Local Property Tax) (Amendment) Bill 2021 which was published by the Department of Finance on 2 June 2021.

A statement by the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe T.D., outlining the proposed changes to LPT can be found here.

Once the Bill is published, it must pass through the various stages (some of which allow for amendments) in the Dáil and the Seanad before it can be enacted.

You do not need to contact Revenue about the revaluation of your property. When the relevant changes to LPT have been passed into law, Revenue will contact you directly with information regarding the steps you will need to take. This will be in advance of the next valuation date.
